We have been writing software for the same part of the world since 2010. Most of what we ship is still in production — much of it maintained by the people who first wrote it.
BIT Services Lab is a small, independent software consultancy based in Tirana. We take on a limited number of engagements each year, so the clients we have keep us close.
We write our own code. We own our own mistakes. We answer the phone when a system is misbehaving at 11 pm on a Thursday, because we wrote it and we know what to do.
We will tell you when a project is the wrong shape, when an off-the-shelf tool will do the job for a fraction of the cost, and when a timeline is not credible. Sixteen years of doing this has made us reasonably accurate.
Our bias is toward systems that can be maintained by a small team for a long time — chosen boring technology, tight scope, written specifications, and a named engineer on the other end of the line.
Four practices. Most engagements touch at least two of them, and the newest, managed IT, usually grows out of the other three.
A sequence of representative moments — not every milestone, just the ones that shaped how we work now.
